THE SAFETY AND HEALTH OF YOUR EMPLOYEES
AND CUSTOMERS IS ALL THAT MATTERS TO US

Our experienced team will be there to support and guide you through all stages of Legionella control from risk
assessment to putting in place a system to control legionella bacteria in water systems which minimizes the potential risk on an ongoing basis.

We are a full member of the Legionella Control Association and consider our continued commitment to
the approved code of practice to be of paramount importance in delivering compliance to ACoP(L8).

WHAT ARE
THE RISKS?

Outbreaks of the illness occur from exposure to Legionella bacteria growing in purpose-built water systems such as cooling towers, hot and cold water systems (tanks and cylinders) and spa pools. If not maintained in accordance with ACoP(L8) these systems become contaminated with bacteria and potentially Legionella.

HOW DOES
IT WORK?

Once the Legionella bacteria reaches sufficient
numbers it is normally contracted by inhaling small
water droplets suspended in the air and
containing the bacteria.

WHO IS MOST
SUSCEPTIBLE?

Legionnaires Disease is a potentially fatal form of pneumonia and everyone is potentially at risk to infection. The risk increases with age but some people are more susceptible. The risk increases with age, people over 45, smokers, heavy drinkers, people suffering from chronic respiratory or kidney disease, diabetes, lung and heart disease and anyone with an impaired immune system.
